Zosia McGregor was born on June 18th in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Dalaica Wright and Frederick “Freddie” McGregor. Growing up in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, Zosia decided to relocate back to Jamaica with the intentions of pursuing her love for music and the arts. Zosia’s appreciation for the arts was then heightened when she attended Edna Manley College for Visual and Performing Arts studying drama. It was then that she realized her desire to sing; which was growing within her from she was 7 years old, became more overwhelming and needed to finally be explored. Ras–I was the very first artiste in which she began doing supporting vocals at StudioBlaze in Kingston Jamaica. Zosia also gained an impressive list of talented artistes that she’s had the opportunity to work with. The growing roster includes Runkus, Kelissa and Dre Island to name a few.
Growing up, Zosia was exposed to a wide catalog of Reggae and Lovers Rock. Along with her father’s mesmerizing talent, she was also inspired by Marcia Griffiths, Bob Andy, Sanchez and Judy Mowatt. These artistes have set the foundation for Zosia’s sound and the type of music she’s released and plans on releasing in the near future. Coming from an extremely musical family, although she’s performed alongside her father and brothers she is definitely looking forward to producing some great music with them in the future.
In June of 2016, Zosia made her debut solo performance at the Love Light and Fire show held by StudioBlaze & Ras-I Musique at the Spades Lounge located in Kingston, Jamaica. Performing both covers and original melodies that resulted in a successful reception by the over-flowing audience Zosia was given the added motivation she needed to pursue the singing career she desired. Following Love Light and Fire, Zosia was requested to be added on the Reggae Offsprings lineup that occurred at Wickie Wackie in Bullbay, St Thomas. That too resulted in a fortunate performance that left the crowd talking long after.
“I Love You” was the very first song Zosia recorded and released back in 2011. It was produced by Kemar ‘Di Kemys’ Whittingham. The “Pretty Girl” EP is set to release later on with singles being released throughout the rest of the year by Ras–I Musique, MLMG (Majah Label Music Group) and others. This reggae offspring hopes to get the gratifying privilege of working with producers like UIM, Winta James, and Teflon from Zincfence Records. She also wishes to work with artistes such as Chris Martin and Alaine to name a few. Her international musical influences include Asa, Lianne La Havas, and Rihanna. She hopes to also catch the attention of R. City (Rock City), Priscilla Renae and Sia.
Zosia’s unique sound stems from a reggae R&B fusion that perfectly intertwines with soul. Her captivating voice will leave you intrigued and desiring to hear more. Sweet sounding and with very high spirits, Zosia McGregor has a very promising career ahead of her.
